LEXINGTON, KY. (May 12, 2009) --- Volunteers of America of Kentucky presented Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. (TMMK) the 2009 Volunteer Spirit Award today during a ceremony in Lexington.

TMMK was recognized for its financial contributions, volunteer efforts, and encouragement of team members to participate in community organizations. This past year, 1,432 TMMK team members volunteered for various non-profit organizations across the state.

“It’s an honor to accept this award on behalf of our hard working and loyal team members,” said Steve St. Angelo, president of TMMK. “The economic conditions have hit everyone hard, but it is especially important for all of us to do everything we can to support important organizations like Volunteers of America.”

Founded in 1896, Volunteers of America is one of the largest and most diversified not-for-profit human service agencies in Kentucky. VOA offers 35 different programs that help people help themselves.
