Vinay Shahani is the Vice President of Lexus marketing at Toyota Motor North America, Inc., a role he has held since January 2021. He is responsible for all Lexus marketing activities, including advertising, media, product marketing and lifecycle management, digital marketing, incentives, auto shows and experiential marketing and motorsports.
Prior, Shahani was the Vice President of Integrated Marketing Operations at Toyota. From June of 2017, he was responsible for leading media strategy, contest and incentive strategy, business analytics, relationship marketing, websites and digital marketing, motorsports, engagement marketing, auto shows and other consumer events throughout the United States.
Previously, he served as the Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Volkswagen of America, where he led and directed all aspects of marketing for the Volkswagen brand in the United States. Prior to Volkswagen, Vinay worked for Nissan North America for 10 years in various executive leadership roles across sales, marketing and manufacturing, most recently serving as the Director of Marketing for the Nissan brand. Vinay also held roles at Arthur Andersen, Sun Microsystems and Ford Motor Company early in his career.
Vinay was named a 2015 Rising Star by the Automotive News, as well as the recipient of the 2014 Salute to Excellence Award by the Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce. He was also a member of the board of directors of the Ad Council from 2014 through 2017.
Born and raised in Michigan, Vinay earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan, and master’s degrees in both business administration and manufacturing systems engineering from Stanford University. Vinay is an avid automobile enthusiast and lives in the Dallas area with his wife and two children.
