Lexus is redefining luxury off-roading with the Overtrail Project, introducing specialized Overtrail grades for the GX and LX SUVs. These models blend rugged capabilities with premium features, catering to adventurers seeking both performance and comfort.

With warm weather in full swing, what better time to get outside and embark on an unforgettable summer adventure? Whether it’s to a remote cabin in the woods or on a winding road under dark, star-lit skies, the GX and LX Overtrail grades allow guests to experience the allure and beauty of the outdoors without compromising luxury.

Born from a commitment to merge luxury and adventure, these new models were built to spark exploration while fostering a celebration of nature. The best part? They’re ready to take on dynamic outdoor challenges one journey at a time.

Deep Into the GX Details
Redesigned from the ground up, the current-generation GX brings intuitive technology, thoughtful interior touches and continued off-road prowess that Lexus guests appreciate.

The Overtrail grade on the GX offers a host of features including the amount of space between the base of an automobile tire and the lowest point of the vehicle — to help optimize off-road functionality. A one-inch suspension lift is standard exclusively on the 2025 GX Overtrail and Overtrail+ grades, increasing the minimum running ground clearance to 9.84 inches.

If tech bells and whistles are a priority, the GX delivers. It offers an array of technologies to make the journey to the destination even more enjoyable, including Multi-Terrain Select, Crawl Control and Downhill Assist Control — these all work in concert with the Full-Time 4WD system to help ensure that the SUV has the traction needed to overcome challenging terrain. For additional coverage, the Overtrail and Overtrail+ grades exclusively offer an electronically controlled locking rear differential that splits the power evenly between the left and right rear wheels to help them turn at the same speed. Activated by a console-mounted switch, the locking rear differential is designed to help ensure the power is directed to the wheel with traction when needed in certain situations.

What’s more, it boasts an Electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (E-KDSS), that provides a high level of balance between off-road drivability and on-road handling stability. This system locks and unlocks the front and rear stabilizer bars to assist with control and enhanced wheel articulation. Depending on driving conditions, speed, steering input and the Multi-Terrain Select (MTS) setting chosen by the driver, the system can independently lock or unlock the front and rear stabilizer bars as needed.

Fueling a New Frontier With The Lexus LX 700h
Since the LX’s debut almost 30 years ago, this flagship SUV is virtually synonymous with legacy and luxury. It’s in a class all its own.

For starters, it’s the only vehicle in the Lexus lineup to offer both F SPORT and Overtrail grades. The latter is offered exclusively on the LX 700h and is a new frontier for the beloved nameplate.

The LX 700h Overtrail offers a 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 hybrid system and a 2,400-watt AC inverter provides external power, ideal for camping or remote excursions.

Equipped as a two or three-row configuration, the Overtrail grade on the LX 700h also comes with all-weather floor liners that can handle whatever mud, sand or snow guests track in. Outside, it boasts 33-inch all-terrain tires wrapped around 18-inch wheels and a front skid plate for added protection.

Painting Colorful Paths
Both the GX and LX Overtrail grades are influenced by outdoor recreation and a growing interest in “overlanding” — a style of self-reliant adventure travel that emphasizes the journey as much as the destination.

For a more distinctive look, the 2025 GX Overtrail and Overtrail+ grades are offered in exclusive bi-tone exterior color combinations including Atomic Silver/Black Roof, Incognito/Black Roof, Nori Green Pearl/Black Roof, and Earth/Black Roof. In the interior, Overtrail grades are available in a color combination of Black NuLuxe®-trimmed interior with Olive Ultrasuede® accents or Chateau NuLuxe®-trimmed interior with Olive Ultrasuede accents and black ornamentation, complementing the nature located just outside the vehicle’s doors.

When it comes to color, the LX 700h Overtrail comes in a cool Earth exterior color, and inside, you’ll find either Black or Stone Brown semi-aniline leather trim on the seats and door panels. The stitching pops in Stone Brown, and there are sleek Black Open Pore wood accents on the center console and door panels to tie it all together.

Adventurous Journeys Await
The Lexus Overtrail Project stands as a testament to the evolving bond between people, nature and the vehicles that connect them.

As part of Lexus’ expanding outdoor lifestyle focus, the Overtrail Project represents a curated vision of rugged exploration. It’s more than a grade — it’s a design philosophy, a commitment to creating vehicles that allow drivers to engage deeply with the natural world without giving up refinement.

Wherever the trail leads next, one thing is certain: Guests’ next nature-centric adventure with Lexus is just beyond the horizon.
