- Custom electric vehicle honors the Miles Davis centennial, blending Laufey’s modern artistry with design details inspired by the music legend
- Laufey’s lyrical version of Davis’ “Blue In Green” is now streaming exclusively on Amazon Music
LOS ANGELES (March 31, 2026) — Marking 100 years of music legend Miles Davis, Lexus and award-winning artist Laufey have unveiled the Blue In Green Edition RZ, a one-of-one custom electric vehicle inspired by Laufey’s reimagined interpretation of Davis’ iconic composition “Blue In Green” streaming now exclusively on Amazon Music.
Created as a physical companion to the song, the vehicle reflects Laufey’s modern perspective on jazz while incorporating subtle design references to Miles Davis and his legendary trumpet. The result blends classic jazz heritage with contemporary artistry, translating the spirit of “Blue In Green” into a design that feels both timeless and new.
“Miles Davis’ music has this timeless, atmospheric quality,” said Laufey. “Seeing ‘Blue In Green’ translated into a physical design was surreal. We captured the feeling of the song, something classic, emotional and a little mysterious, and turned it into something that will actually move you.”
“My father always created music that people could live inside of,” said Erin Davis. “To see ‘Blue In Green’ reimagined and expressed through design like this is really special. It shows how deeply that feeling still resonates.”
“At Lexus, we’re always exploring how design, technology and culture can come together to create meaningful experiences,” said Sara Lara, senior manager, Lexus marketing. “Collaborating with Laufey to celebrate Miles Davis’ centennial was an opportunity to honor a legendary influence while showcasing a modern artistic perspective. The Blue In Green Edition RZ brings that vision to life, reflecting our approach to craftsmanship and innovation in electrified design.”

The vehicle was revealed during 100 Miles, a special live event presented by Lexus and streamed globally on Twitch, where Laufey also debuted her lyrical interpretation of the track in tribute to 100 years of Miles Davis’ musical legacy.
Design Inspired by Jazz
Inspired by the mood and restraint of “Blue In Green,” the custom Lexus RZ translates music into motion through a series of thoughtful design elements that blend Laufey’s artistic vision with subtle tributes to Miles Davis.
- Color in Motion: A custom exterior finish shifts from deep blue to green as light moves across its surface. The effect mirrors the tone and atmosphere of the song, revealing new shades from every angle.
- Tribute to Miles: Design cues throughout the vehicle draw inspiration from Miles Davis and his legendary trumpet, with brass accents appearing on the brake calipers and interior details. The cabin is finished in burgundy velvet and aged leather, evoking the look and feel of a classic instrument case.
- Laufey’s Signature: Laufey’s influence appears throughout the vehicle she helped curate, beginning with a custom illuminated front badge featuring her signature script “L.” Inside the trunk, lyrics from her reimagined rendition of “Blue In Green” are featured as a subtle detail for fans.
- Music in the Details: In a playful final touch, when the vehicle is turned on the first few notes of Miles Davis’ “Blue In Green” play, turning even the smallest interaction with the car into a musical element.
The Blue In Green Edition RZ reflects Lexus’ broader vision for electrification, where design and technology converge to create experiences that build an emotional connection.

Laufey (pronounced lay-vay) has captivated a generation with virtuosic songs of love and self-discovery by manifesting her vision of jazz- and classical-infused pop music. Raised between Reykjavik and Washington, D.C., she learned piano and cello as a child, later studying at Berklee College of Music. There, she wrote her debut EP, 2021’s Typical of Me, whose striking single “Street by Street” debuted at No. 1 on Icelandic Radio—the first of many achievements that have grown to include two Grammy Awards, nearly 6 billion global streams, a social media audience of 25 million, the biggest jazz LP debut in Spotify history, a growing pile of Platinum plaques, a Forbes 30 Under 30 designation, and being named one of TIME’s 2025 Women of the Year. About Miles Davis
Miles Davis (1926-1991) fundamentally reshaped modern music across five decades of relentless reinvention. From pioneering bebop and cool jazz to defining hard bop, modal improvisation, and electric fusion, Davis treated each genre breakthrough as a starting point rather than a destination. His discography reads like a timeline of jazz’s evolution: Birth of the Cool, Kind of Blue (the best-selling jazz album of all time), Sketches of Spain, In a Silent Way, Bitches Brew, and dozens more albums that continue to define both the essence and the outer limits of improvised music.
Davis’s genius extended beyond composition and performance. His studio innovations with producer Teo Macero established templates for modern music production. His ensembles functioned as talent accelerators, launching the careers of John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea, and countless others who would themselves become legends. His influence spans generations: he remains one of the most sampled artists in hip-hop, with his recordings serving as foundations for Kendrick Lamar, Madlib, and A Tribe Called Quest.
His accolades include eight Grammy Awards, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, eleven recordings in the Grammy Hall of Fame, induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, stars on both the Hollywood and St. Louis Walks of Fame, and a Congressional resolution honoring Kind of Blue’s 50th anniversary in 2009.
Beyond music, Davis established himself as a style icon (#1 on GQ’s Most Stylish Musicians of All Time), visual artist (paintings exhibited across four continents), and symbol of artistic independence. In 2012, the U.S. Postal Service honored his legacy with a commemorative stamp, cementing his status as an American cultural monument.
