DETROIT (June 1, 2026) – With podium finishes in view for both Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3 entries in Saturday’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, late race contact on the streets of downtown Detroit resulted in Jack Hawksworth and Ben Barnicoat finishing sixth while Aaron Telitz and Chaz Mostert earned a 10th-place result in the GTD PRO class.

Barnicoat started third in the Vasser Sullivan No. 14 Lexus RC F GT3 and ran among the top three during his 30-minute stint before turning driving duties over to Hawksworth. On lap 43, Hawksworth was spun by a GTP competitor who was penalized for the contact, however he was able to remain in second place following the incident. He went on to battle for the lead late in the race but was called for a drive through penalty and fell to a sixth-place result.

The No. 15 Lexus RC F GT3 started seventh with Mostert behind the wheel. The 2025 Supercars champion ran consistently in the top five, making his way up to the lead of the GTD PRO field for three laps before pitting to hand the car off to Telitz. He ran in fourth place until late in the race when he was battling for a podium position and was hit by a Corvette. Telitz ran a few more laps in the second position before having to pit due to a tire going down from the earlier incident and went on to finish 10th.

Lexus and Vasser Sullivan next compete in a six-hour endurance race at upstate New York’s Watkins Glen International on Sunday, June 28. To keep up with all the racing action, follow @GAZOORacingUSA on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.

Vasser Sullivan Driver Quotes
BEN BARNICOAT, No. 14 Lexus RC F GT3
Can you talk about today’s race?
“Well, that was an eventful day in Detroit. We had a great race going. Obviously, we had a really fantastic start. I was able to jump on the Corvette early and get into second. They set the pace today and I couldn’t quite hang with the No. 3 car, but we were looking good going around in P2. Jack (Hawksworth) got in during the stops and did a great move to get us back to P2 and he fought really hard. I thought he did an excellent move to get past the 3 car, and I then think it’s controversial what happened from there. I’d tell Jack to do the same thing again next time. That’s why he’s the best driver in IMSA and I’m very lucky to race with him. I’m really disappointed for everyone at Vasser Sullivan and Lexus. We deserved to win today. We did everything to win today, and external factors took it away from us. We’ll keep our heads down, keep digging and we’ll try again at Watkins Glen in a couple weeks.”

JACK HAWKSWORTH, No. 14 Lexus RC F GT3
How was your weekend in Detroit?
“It was a mega weekend. Ben (Barnicoat) did a fantastic job in qualifying. We had a really good race car. It was a wild race. I felt like we were racing really well and I thought Ben had a really good stint. The strategy seemed good. I don’t know what happened at the end. I tried my best to win the race and they gave us a drive through. We’ll move on and go to Watkins Glen.”

AARON TELITZ, No. 15 Lexus RC F GT3
Can you talk about today’s race?
“We had a great day going here at the Detroit Grand Prix. Chaz (Mostert) had a great start and moved up a position and was running right with the leaders and doing an awesome job. He brought it back to me and then we were running P4 there up until the last couple restarts. I thought we made a great move on the No. 4 Corvette, but he decided it wasn’t going to be a great move and moved over in the brake zone and we had some big contact and eventually led to a flat tire. That ended our day. It would’ve been a P2 – a great result here for the 15 team, Vasser Sullivan and Lexus. It feels bad to end this way, but everyone knew we were here. A huge thank you to the team and Lexus. Our RC Fs were really good today.”

CHAZ MOSTERT, No. 15 Lexus RC F GT3
How was your experience in the Lexus RC F GT3 today?
“What a hard race here in Detroit today. First of all, still buzzing to be invited to this race with Vasser Sullivan. I had such a great experience. Aaron (Telitz) drove a fantastic race and fought all the way to the end there and I can’t believe a flat tire on the last lap took us out of P2. I’m gutted for Aaron because he didn’t do anything wrong. Overall, I had an awesome time. I tried my hardest and I learned a lot as well every time I was in the car. The team here is absolutely awesome, and I wish them all the luck for the rest of the year. I’ll definitely be watching from Australia. A big thank you to Vasser Sullivan and Lexus for giving me the opportunity to race with this awesome sports car team.”
